C.S.Moreton (Antiques) was formed in 1854 as Ernest Smith in Southsea, becoming C.S.Moreton in 1902 when Charles Moreton took over the business from Ernest Smith. The business then passed on to Charles’ nephew Laurence Stephens in 1948 moving to Hindhead in Surrey in 1958. On Laurence’s death in 1974 the business was carried on by his son Paul and then moved to Scotland in 1982 dealing from Inchmartine House in Perthshire. In 1994 a separate business was formed by Paul - Inchmartine Fine Art, dealing in Scottish fine art from the 19th. and early 20th. Century. Thus for over 150 years C.S.Moreton (Antiques) has been dealing in fine period furniture and object d’art dating from the 17th. century to the 19th. century, each item being carefully chosen for authenticity, condition and colour and fully restored sympathetically. The business now specialises in Scottish Georgian furniture, Dutch furniture from the same period with object d’art to compliment the furniture and fine Scottish oil and watercolour paintings all at very competitive prices with customers returning many times

Inchmartine Restorations was formed in 1990 by Andrew Stephens the son of Paul Stephens at the age of 20 after several years working as a cabinet maker at Andwells Antiques of Hartley Witney (now no longer in business). He also spent some time working and training with a renowned antiques restorer by the name of Don Wright who has spent his whole life as a restorer and someone Andrew looks up too with a huge amount of respect. The restoring business soon took off and it wasn’t long before Andrew was dealing in mainly period antique furniture as well as restoring it. It also was not long before Andrew was recognized by BAFRA (British Antique Furniture Restorers Association) for his outstanding work and invited to become a member. After a year of vigorous vetting Andrew became a full member of BAFRA. Since 1990 Inchmartine Restorations has flourished into one of the most respected antique restoration firms in Scotland. The firm is also renowned for selling good Georgian furniture and effects at very competitive prices with customers returning many times.
