C.S.Moreton (Antiques) was formed in 1854 as Ernest Smith in Southsea, becoming C.S.Moreton in 1902 whenCharles Moreton took over the business from Ernest Smith. The business then passed on to Charles’ nephew Laurence Stephens in 1948 moving to Hindhead in Surrey in 1958. On Laurence’s death in 1974 the business was carried on by his son Paul and then moved to Scotland in 1982 dealing from Inchmartine House in Perthshire. In 1994 a separate business was formed by Paul - Inchmartine Fine Art, dealing in Scottish fine art from the 19th. and early 20th. Century. Thus for over 150 years C.S.Moreton (Antiques) has been dealing in fine period furniture and object d’art dating from the 17th. century to the 19th. century, each item being carefully chosen for authenticity,condition and colour and fully restored sympathetically. The business now specialises in Scottish Georgian furniture, Dutch furniture from the same period with object d’art to compliment the furniture and fine Scottish oil and watercolour paintings all at very competitive prices with customers returning many times
